Machu Picchu: One of the 7 Wonders of the World

by | Sep 21, 2017

Machu Picchu is, deservedly so, one of the seven wonders of the world. Most people have seen photographs of it but few have seen it in real life, in all its glory.

Machu Picchu is Peru’s most famous Inca citadel situated on a mountain ridge 2,430 metres above sea level, it stretches over an impressive 5-mile distance with over 3,000 stone steps.  It is believed to have been a royal estate or sacred religious site for Inca leaders. For hundreds of years the citadel was abandoned and its existence was only known to people living in the region until 1911 when it was discovered by American archaeologist Hiram Bingham.

Ultra Adventures will offer you the chance to visit Machu Picchu on a once and a lifetime trip. We will be taking you through the ancient Inca trail which follows the original trail that Inca’s would have taken through the sacred valley. Along the way you will get to experience phenomenal natural viewpoints, stunning scenery and some impressive archaeological sites. Some of the highlights include, Runcuracay (a circular Inca Tambo), Sayacmarca ruins, Phuyupatamarca in the Urubamba Valley and Wiñaywayna.

Machu Picchu is a challenge not to be missed.
